What is Kofurisode?
Kofurisode is a type of furisode kimono. It is one of the three main types of furisode, including ōfurisode, which has long sleeves ranging from approximately 124 to 114 cm, chu-furisode, which is semi-formal with shorter sleeves ranging from approximately 95 to 99 cm, and ko-furisode, which has sleeves of approximately 76 cm in length.
Kofurisode with hakama is traditionally worn on special occasions in Japan, such as coming-of-age ceremonies, weddings, and tea ceremonies. It is also suitable for relaxed atmosphere parties. However, kofurisode can also be worn alone without hakama. It is known for its elaborate and vibrant designs, and the long sleeves add an elegant and graceful touch to the overall appearance.
What types of kimono can be paired with the hakama?
The upper garment for the hakama can be chosen freely. In addition to komon kimono, it can also be paired with kofurisode or furisode. However, it should be noted that the upper garment for the hakama should not be paired with a yukata, which is typically a casual cotton kimono worn during summer or for relaxation purposes.
